Everything you need to know about our Bespoke Mezzanines
Custom mezzanine systems are among the most versatile storage systems available in business and industrial premises. Without making any structural changes to the existing building, it is possible to increase available space by up to 100%, and that space can be put to a wide variety of uses. Central Storage Systems are specialists in designing, supplying and installing bespoke mezzanine systems, and have transformed the facilities of firms across a variety of sectors.
A mezzanine is an additional, self-supporting floor level which is installed within – or occasionally adjacent to – an existing building. The foundations of most business premises and similar properties are quite adequate to support the extra weight, and in the case of modern units, the roof is often twenty, thirty, or more feet above the floor level. Unless a full racking system or similar structure is employed, much of this space often just goes to waste.
Central Storage Systems create bespoke mezzanines which make the best use of the available space. An upper level can be used for many different purposes: a showroom, offices, or extra warehouse space are all within your grasp. Some companies employ them as custom work platforms – a whole department can be relocated up there, say PAT testing or quality control. Long term storage items, such as paper records and infrequently used equipment, can be stored on a mezzanine level without getting in anyone’s way. Provided the weight limits for load per square meter are observed, your new space can be used just like a traditional extension.
Every custom mezzanine we build at Central Storage Systems is made to measure, so one of the first steps towards realising such a solution at your premises is to take rough measurements and photographs of the site, and send them through to us via our request a quote page. We will usually be in touch with you within two working hours, to provide a preliminary costing and arrange a free site survey. We will also present you with a range of options for your design: what kind of safety rails should be included? Will a gap be left for forklift truck access? One key decision is regarding how the new level will be accessed; see our page on mezzanine staircases for more information.
Once the survey is completed and the design is agreed upon, installation usually takes no longer than two or three weeks. We do our best to fit in with your schedule, to minimise disruption and have your new storage in place as quickly as possible. Our custom mezzanines can be used in conjunction with other Central Storage Systems products, such as office and industrial partitioning, to create a well organized and flexible workspace which will open up new possibilities within your existing facility.
